In my class the other day, someone briefly mentioned extroversion/introversion in passing and how introversion should be valued more as a personality trait.
Of course, I was cheering inside.
But then someone else immediately replied, “I don’t believe in introversion or extroversion, because people will always act in a way so they can get what they want.”
I know extroversion/introversion isn’t an “ism” in the same way as racism, sexism, ableism, etc. But hearing that just made me feel incredibly marginalized. As though there is something wrong with me because I don’t and can’t, actually, act extroverted “just to get what I want.”
